[i] Please introduce yourself.
[r] I am [name]. Born in Bangladesh. I have been living in this country for the past 8 years. I am enjoying all the comforts of this country. And I think this country is perfect for me. Okay? As a member of our family, I am the youngest of the family. I have two brothers. One elder brother. My parents are in every country. My elder brother lives in England. I live in Paris. But after coming to Paris, I feel like I can mix with Paris. I like everything about Paris. Okay.
[i] Did you have any plans to come to Paris? Or did you come later?
[r] No, I came later. My life hasn’t changed. I came to England on a student visa. Immigrants are very hard in England. It is very difficult to deal with the papers. So I came to a place like Paris in France. It is a perfect place for refugees and foreigners like us. We can hear the comforts of the big city. Plus, there are many people who live here. They also tell me that if you come to Paris, you will get a big part of your life. Okay? So don’t worry about these things. I came to Paris from England. After coming to Paris, I started to understand the rules of Paris. Then I started to like everything about Paris.
[i] So, did you go to England, when you were born? Or did you want to go there all the time?
[r] No, I came to England on a student visa. At that time, I had a lot of tuition fees. I had to pay about 3,500 pounds per year. But I was a student. It was very difficult to work. So I did not do anything for two and a half years. I could not do anything. There was no guarantee about the papers. When my aunt told me that there were all the facilities in Paris, I decided to come to Paris. I came to Paris. After a month, I came to Paris. I have no problem.
[i] Did you live with your sister in England?
[r] No. I lived alone in England. I used to work in an Indian restaurant next to the school. The system in England is that wherever you work, the owner will pay for everything. In my week, I had a five-day class. I took admission in West London School and College. The five-day class was very tough. I worked in a canteen in England. It was a seven-ox area. I worked there for four or five days. I stayed here and took admission for two days. I had a cousin. He lived in England. His house was in Finsbury Park, next to Camden Town. I stayed here for two days as a guest. After two days, I took admission again. I worked in the canteen for five days. Everything was good here. The only problem was that there were no good papers in life. You can go to work for money, but you can’t do anything else in life. In England, you can work for money, but Paris is perfect. There is everything in Paris. Money, happiness, peace, everything.
[i] If you could get good papers in England, would you stay in England or go to France?
[r] If I could get good papers in England, I would have settled in England. But I couldn’t. There was a time when there was a lot of hard work. A lot of rules had changed in England. So, I decided to go to France. Gradually, I got interested in France. So, I decided to come here. I hope that everything will be fine.
[i] What are the advantages of coming to France?
[r] Like, you can stay here for a while. I think there are many advantages of coming to Paris. For example, if you come here as a refugee, you can stay here. The government of Paris pays you monthly. Everything is free of charge. Solidarity transport is also 75% free. This is the government’s policy. In the past, we were able to take these facilities for 25 people. But now, it’s starting again. The mask was also closed. And it’s starting again. All the facilities are free. As long as they don’t have an interview with the police, they don’t have an interview with us. If they are satisfied, they will give us a residential card from the police. And if the police doesn’t accept it, and they think that they don’t need anything else, then they will send it to the CNDA, which is a commission. This is what the Bengali community calls it. We have to request the commission again. If there is a change in our life story in a year, we have to submit everything to the CNDA again. The CNDA will call us for another interview. If they accept it after the interview, they will give us a permission to stay in this country. They will give us a 10-year curfew for refugees. And if they don’t accept it, then the French government has provided us with a facility. If you don’t believe in being a refugee, that means you don’t have any problems in this country, then if you don’t work in this country for 3 years, in a good society, then you will be declared a refugee. If you are declaring a refugee, then you have to pay a tax every three months. After paying the tax, you will be called a fishe-dopé, which means a payslip in English. If you pay this tax for 2 years, the French government will give you a permission to stay here. They will give you a work permit, which is called an authorization. You will be allowed to stay in this country. Once you are allowed to stay in this country, you will be able to demand again from the government that I have been living here for so many years, I have studied in this country, I have a certificate, I have everything. After demanding all this, they will give you a 10-year curfew. The 10-year curfew, normally the nationalities of this country get the same facilities.
[i] All the rights are the same?
[r] Yes, all the rights are equal.
[i] And this is not in England, all the people have equal rights. Whether you are an Englishman or a foreigner, doesn’t everyone have equal rights in England?
[r] No, this right does not exist in England. Only those who have papers, those who are nationalities of England, Only they get these facilities. But in Paris, those who don’t have papers, they also get these facilities. Those who have nothing, they also get these facilities, like adminical. Even with adminical, in this country, all the doctors and nurses go for free treatment. I was talking about solidarity earlier. Those who have nothing, no papers, no receipt, they also get these facilities. This is a big problem. This is why everyone wants to live in this country.
[i] What did you study in England? Did you study any other subjects?
[r] I studied Hotel Management in England. After that, for two and a half years, everything was fine. Then I came here. The rules in this country, if you want to live in this country, you have to follow these rules. I followed all these rules. Today, I feel very happy.
[i] Couldn’t you finish your studies in England?
[r] No, I couldn’t. Because it was so tough for me. There were so many tuition fees. Those of us who are foreigners, we are all from middle-class families. It is not possible for everyone to get money from the country. After paying the tuition fees, you have to study abroad. It is so tough. But I didn’t give up. I studied abroad, but I didn’t want to go back. I was worried. Because the system in England is a business. If you get a student visa, if a student pays £3,500 per year, then in three years, they will get £10,000. They don’t get any benefit. It is a business for England. So, I took a degree. I took everything. But in the end, I had to go back to the country. It is so tough to stay
[i] If you don’t have the money to stay in England, you won’t be able to stay.
[r] No, you can stay as long as your visa is valid. You can get a visa extension. You have to maintain a lot of rules. You have to show your work. You have to show your income source so that you can earn £12,000 or more, £15,000 or £20,000. You have to show your income source. Plus, you have to do well in your college or varsity. Otherwise, you will have to go back to the country.
[i] I don’t want to continue my studies in France. Do you want to?
[r] I wanted to, but I didn’t want to. The system in which I studied in France, I didn’t want to go back to France. I took a lot of appointments in colleges. But in the end, I didn’t get any. My status was a refugee. I don’t want to go back to France. I don’t want to go back to France. I got a 10-year cut when I applied for it. They said that I will be able to apply if I get a 10-year cut. But in this country, there is nothing for a language course. For a language course, you can apply anytime. I did it. I took a class, but it was useless. As I said, it is good to work as an immigrant in France. When I came to France, I changed my status to a refugee. But the commission rejected me. I was under a lot of pressure. I used to do a good job. I used to work as a declarer. At that time, I didn’t have to worry about my studies. I didn’t have any worries. I didn’t have to worry about my studies. I didn’t have to worry about my family. I had to give some money to my family. I didn’t have to worry about my studies. I continued my work. After three years, I got 24 fees and submitted my application to the commission. They gave me a three-month receipt. After that, I didn’t get any work permission. So, they demanded that I get an authorization. They sent me to an office called Thabai. I don’t know what it is. They were happy that I got an authorization. After two months, they sent me a form from Sephora that I have an authorization. After that, they gave me a three-month receipt from Thabai. I told them that I have an authorization. After three months, they asked for some papers. After that, they gave me a one-year card. After that, I had to renew After three years, I got an authorization. Now, the French government respects the people who work and pay taxes. The government has changed many rules. They gave me a four-year card. This is a good proof that the French government respects the people who come to Paris.
[i] How long have you been in France?
[r] I came to France in August 2011.
[i] And you came to England?
[r] I came to England in March 2009.
[i] So, how many years have you been.
[r] After my refugee status, I got a four-year card. I got a two-year and a one-year card. Before, I got a one-year card. Now, I got a four-year card. I got a four-year card.
[i] When did you get your first card?
[r] I got my first card in 2014.
[i] How long did you get your first card?
[r] I got my first card in 2014. I have another story. When I was rejected for political support, the French government gave me a letter stating that after I was rejected for political support, They said that they did not believe in my life and that I could go away from my country. They said that I had no rights to stay here. I was lucky to work full-time and I was declared a worker. If we say something in a friendly manner, they say it again. Because in France, not everyone speaks English. So those of us who are abroad, they also take the profit that they will learn English. They will speak in English. So we take the chance that we will speak English to them. They will learn English. They will speak Farsi. We will learn Farsi. So this is how we slowly improved ourselves as much as we could. When you left for Bangladesh, what were your hopes and dreams?
[r] The main reason was to change my lifestyle. To move forward in life. To become independent. Because the area where we live in Bangladesh, We call it SILET, Bangladesh Active Bivouac. 90% of the people we talk to are foreigners after they grow up, which we still have a problem with. When we were young, we used to see that our uncles, uncles, relatives and friends were all foreigners. I came from abroad and my life changed. I met many big people and many things. I didn’t have anything in life but it was a lot. That was what I thought. I didn’t have a speed in life. So I went abroad. I changed a little because I was in the country. I did something in the country. One is the political problem of the country. There has always been a problem of addiction in Bangladesh. It is a big problem. Many children cannot stay in their count They have to go abroad to live a good life. There are many facilities in the country. But because of the negative effects of the virus, everyone is going abroad. They want to change themselves. Slowly, everything is changing and everyone is living a good life.
[i] Bangla, did you ever think about coming back from France?
[r] I never thought about it. When I came to England, I couldn’t even tell myself that where I was going and where I was going. I got the visa in England and everything was fine. But when I came to England, I didn’t know who would receive me or what my elder brother would do. He was in charge of everything. After a few days, my aunt came and called me. After she called me, she showed me the house. But I couldn’t believe that I had left my country. When I wanted to live in my cousin’s house, I wanted to go away. But I didn’t. I left my country.
[i] Did you feel bad or happy?
[r] Both I felt happy and bad. I felt bad that my parents left me. My parents said their children died, and I also felt bad. I felt good at the same time. I was very happy to meet my friends, because everyone in the country was good and bad. So, whatever you see is good, but your friends were bad inside. Everyone wanted the bad to win. So I think I gave up one side, I left the other side, I left the other side, I gave up. I will not do this again. I will think about everything in the future. At first, I felt bad for a few months because the culture, the weather, the way of life in this country was not good enough for me. Slowly, I got used to it and it took me some time to get used to it. So, for 3-4 months, my English life was very bad. Slowly, I saw that if I maintain everything, everything will be fine. So, that’s how I came here. Till now, I have come here and I am maintaining everything.
[i] In which city did you first come to France? And did you do anything after coming to France?
[r] No, it was different. Because in England, the lifestyle is that you work and do everything. Only on weekends, I would get some time to relax and have fun with my friends. I would walk around. Because at one side, there was the college and at the other side, there was the work. Again, I had to prepare myself for the work. But, I felt different after coming here. I am working and doing everything. I am getting along with everyone. I get along with all kinds of people. For example, we Bengali people, I work with a Sinuan people. Then, my friend is an Arab. He is a very good person. Plus, I have changed a lot of things in society. Everything is different. From everything, I have different ideas. The way he walks, the way he speaks. So, after coming to France, I didn’t think that I would be in a language course. I had a lot of pressure. I had a lot of pressure. So, I couldn’t do it even if I got the opportunity. So, I learned a little bit of French language from my colleagues. They work with me. They are all foreigners. I am a foreigner. So, I don’t speak in Bengali. But, I learn a little bit from them. So, French is a language. You don’t have to go to school from your work place. You can learn a language. You can learn a language. Everyone helps each other. Your colleague will be there. And everyone here, everyone who works here, is between 18 and 22 years old. We go wherever we go. We all get our age in work. So, this is not a profit. If we say anything to a friendly man, he will say it again. Because in France, not everyone speaks English. So, foreigners like us, they also take a profit. They learn English. So, we were in a chance. We will speak English to them. They will learn to speak English. They will speak Farsi. We will learn Farsi. So, like this, slowly, slowly, slowly, I learned as much as I could.
[i] So, in France, what did you do in France?
[r] After I came to France, I worked in Libra. Libra is a takeaway. So, after I came to Libra, I had an accident once. So, after the accident, I lost my job. So, I gave up the job. I didn’t want to do it again. So, after that, I will work in the kitchen. So, my elder brother, he is very old. He is in Beris. So, he also helped me a lot. It is a little easy that they will teach me. So, they were in the Bengali community. They were the elder brothers. They know a little English. They are foreigners. They are talking about the elders. So I told them to come and work with us for 2-3 months and then we will pay you whatever we can. I did not ask them for money, I just worked with them for 2-3 months and then I got a job in a good society. My elder brother [name] and [name] helped me a lot to get a job. I did not think of becoming a chef or a chef’s son-in-law, I just wanted to make a living. Gradually I realized that it was not possible for me. I started working and slowly I changed myself. I learned how to speak the language, how to walk, how to talk, how to respect others. I also learned a lot of things. In Bangladesh, there is no such thing as food control in a restaurant. There is a lot of food control like Japanese food, raw food. You have to keep yourself neat and clean. You should keep yourself clean, you have to check if there are any bugs. You have to use the cleaning cloths regularly. You have to learn all these things from a restaurant. So, I used to check my class, food control, etc. So, after working in the restaurant, I used to go to the market, like Fonfi, Lidl or Carefour, which I didn’t have before. After coming to France, after working in the restaurant, all these control things came to my mind. This is also a profit I took after coming to France. Normally, I used to check the date when the food will be served, when the date will expire, I buy fruits and all. I learned all these things. Nobody taught me, I learned by watching.
[i] So, your work, your life in Paris has changed a lot.
[r] Yes, it has changed a lot. After coming to Paris, I have made a lot of friends. Not only Bengalis, but other than Bengalis, I have worked here recently. I have worked in the Philippines, Thailand, Louisiana, Chinua, Japan. I mean, we are not the same. We are people from six countries. India, India, and I am from Bangladesh. We were seven people from seven countries. The people who worked in front of me, Fosse, Farashi, Arab, Afrique, I worked with people from all the countries. I liked it. Each country, each culture came to my mind. How to speak, how to talk. I mean, I had only one mind before, to work, to earn money, to do all these things. After doing all these things, I realized that I know about the Chinese tradition. What to eat, how to walk. I know about the Japanese. The Philippines, Thailand. I learned all this from my work, that I can learn in Paris. I don’t have to know all this. Naturally, I know all these things from my work. I know what to say in English class. I know about my culture. It’s good. I made a profit from all this.
[i] Did you get all this in England?
[r] No, the work we did in England, all were Bengali. The available work in England was the work of the restaurant. There was no foreign work in the Indian restaurant. All were Bengali. Everyone spoke Bengali. That’s why I didn’t learn it. Our memory, there was a foreign language in Bengali. So, when I came to Paris, I can remember it in different ways. So, there is a lot in my memory, which I was able to acquire after coming to Paris.
[i] How many years did you work in your job?
[r] I worked in a restaurant. I worked in a restaurant for 5 years. So, I have all the documents. The owner was from Kabul. After that, I changed my job. I worked in a sushi shop. I worked in a cinema. Everything was good here. There were all kinds of facilities. After that, I left the job. Now, I am working in a pharmacy. Because, I don’t like to work in a restaurant. I want to change my profession. Now, I am working in a pharmacy. I don’t know what to do next.
[i] What kind of pharmacy are you working in?
[r] I am working in a pharmacy. I am working in an airport. It is called, Asandu Pist Bagajist. It is a bagger section. Bengalis call it a bagger section. So, I am trying to work in this. Now, I am trying to get a driving license. If you want to live in this country, you need a house. A house is the most important thing. So, I am trying to get a house. I am very busy with three things. If I get two of them, I will be successful. I have got two things out of three. After that, I will think about my life. I will think about my family. I will think about it later.
[i] So, you are an expatriate?
[r] Yes, I am an expatriate. Now, I am not able to think about it. There are all kinds of facilities in this country. But, the problem is getting a house. It is so tough to get a house here. Many people work here. But, they don’t get a house for years. If the government of this country, helps the refugees who come here, to get a house, it will be very good.
[i] Where do you live at the moment? Where do you live?
[r] I live in Paris. I live in La Corneuve, Paris. Sorry, Hotel de Ville La Corneuve. It is in 93 [quartier]. I live in a friend’s house. I rent a room to him. We run the restaurant ourselves. It is going on like this. There are all kinds of facilities in France. But, the problem is getting a house. It is so tough to get a house here. I don’t get a chance even after living here.
[i] How many years have you lived in La Corneuve? Did you live in La Corneuve all the time?
[r] No, I didn’t live in La Corneuve all the time. But, I lived in 93 all the time. I lived in 93 all the time. Sometimes, I lived in Auverville. Sometimes, I lived in La Corneuve. Sometimes, I lived in Pontin. It is very difficult to get a house in this country. We are all bachelors. We rent a room for 4-5 people. We rent a room for 4-5 people. We rent a room for 4-5 people. We are bachelors. Bachelors don’t have much priority in their homes. They don’t even look at your files. This is the main problem in Paris.
[i] Why did you choose 93?
[r] 93 was for our foreigners. It was very good. All our foreigners live in 93. I came here because of their trust. They all settled in 93. They don’t even look at our files. If you want to buy a house in Paris, you have to pay a lot of money. If you buy a house in Paris, you have to pay a lot of money. If you buy a house in 93, you have to pay a lot of money. You will get the amount of salary you need within 500-600 rupees. So, in Perish, it is not possible to get it. From Paris, I went to 94, then to Ardham, then to 95, then to Ardham. It was a kind of adventure. 93 was perfect for us foreigners So, I got tired of it. Because my maximum friends are there. I have all my addresses. All my friends and relatives live in 93. I don’t want to move from here. I want to stay here.
[i] Do you want to stay in 93? Or do you want to move to a bigger city?
[r] I don’t want to move to a bigger city. I am going to find a place that will allow me to move. Paris, 93, 94, 95 If Paris gives me, I will go to Paris. But it depends on them. If I have to stay in 93, I have no other choice. But it depends on them.
[i] And you don’t have any desire to live in a city?
[r] I want to live near the metro in Paris. Because we are mainly working in Paris. So if we live near the metro, it will be convenient for us to come and go. And if we live a little far from the metro, we won’t have to worry about RER, SNCF, etc. So that’s the problem. But I wanted to live in Paris. I think it’s perfect.
[i] So what do you think of the city of Paris?
[r] Paris is always good for me. I can’t say the same for others. Because Paris has given me everything. I can tell you my life story here. But this is a matter of Paris. If I didn’t know my brother’s wife, I wouldn’t have been able to sit here today. I wouldn’t have been able to tell you my life story. How I came here, how I changed myself, how I came forward. Everything has to do with Paris. That’s what I want in Paris.
[i] So after coming to France, what do you do in your daily routine? What do you do after work? Where do you spend your time?
[r] After work?
[i] Yes, after work.
[r] After work, I play with my friends. When summer comes, we go to the sea together. Sometimes we go fishing. Sometimes we play cricket, sometimes we play football. Sometimes we go to our friends’ houses. Sometimes we play cards. We pass our time like this. So these are things to learn. There are many things to learn. We go to places far away. We understand the culture of those places. We talk to each other in our homes. Most of my friends who come here, they are all established. Most of the time, they speak in French. I can learn whatever I want. I can play whatever I want or not. I participate. I talk to them. I follow them. I follow them. I can take as much as I want. This is the main purpose of life in Paris.
[i] You said that France has given you a lot of facilities. But you or those who come to France or Paris, what do they want to give to the French government or Paris? What are the benefits of Paris? For the foreigners.
[r] For the foreigners, this is the benefit. Because the foreigners, I think, they are a poor people. If they work for 6 months, they sit and eat for 6 months. They cut their vacancy for 6 months. If the foreigners didn’t come here, they wouldn’t eat and die. Why not? Because most of the food from this country’s restaurants or anything else, it’s all from the foreigners. It’s in the hands of the foreigners. For example, this is a Greek sandwich. It’s a food. Basically, it’s Turkish. Then Algerian. Arab speciality. Then Indian restaurant. They are foreigners. Indian and Bangladeshi together. It’s an Indian restaurant. Then, I think, Japanese food. In Paris, among the big food restaurants, Sushi shop, Eat Sushi, Planet Sushi. All are foreigners. The Japanese are coming to this country. Then the business is opening. Then the food is being prepared by the foreigners. For the foreigners. But the food we prepare, we don’t eat. For the people of this country, we are preparing and serving them. Okay? Then the food in this country, Tabak, all the owners are foreigners. And the foreigners, the foreigners don’t do all this or don’t want to do it. That’s why the foreigners are taking profit from the foreigners. There are many people who work in Paris. The road workers, the police officers, the train workers, the airport workers, all are foreigners. All are foreigners. Because the foreigners don’t want to go to Paris. That’s what I think. There is another negative point in Paris, which is a big problem for our foreigners. For the foreigners, we are doing it for the foreigners. But we are being deprived of many benefits. For example, there are many owners who take salary, they take a lot of money. There are many owners in this country who have to pay a lot of money for the ownership or for the Solidarity Transfer. But there are many owners who have to pay a lot of money for the ownership of this country. But the foreigners are being deprived of the ownership. I am also a foreigner. I have been deprived of many things or I am still being deprived of many things. But we came here. We came here for the people of this country. But they don’t want to push us. This is my own opinion. Another negative point is that we have a language problem. Because they don’t it is very easy to push us. Because Bengalis can be a step ahead of them. Whatever they say, it is okay. Because the people of this country don’t even know about this. Our Bengali community. Because of that, Malik Pakara is being attacked. So I think if we change this a little bit. If we come, we can be like the people of this country. For example, if a refugee comes to a school and has to stay in the country, there is a case to be filed. If a government rules that the school has to be run with the status of a refugee for 2-3 months, then our foreigners will not be able to stay in any part of the country. There are many facilities available, but people don’t know about them. They are afraid of demanding something. So, if the case is submitted in our court, then there should be a system for a 2-month compulsory language course for foreigners, not just Bengalis. There are a lot of Chinese, Japanese who don’t know how to speak. There are a lot of Afghans and Pakistanis who don’t know how to speak. So, if a 2-3 month course is given, then I think the country will improve. Foreigners will not be stuck. Foreigners will be more willing to work. Currently, a lot of foreigners are leaving the restaurants for this reason. But more and more control is being given. Two days ago, freedom. Nobody knew what freedom was. Freedom is for the employees who have been left behind. In the past, there was only one job in freedom. Now, there are so many applications for freedom, that if you go to a restaurant with a complaint from your boss, then you have to wait for 1-2 years. There are so many complaints. Employers are leaving. The employers of the country are leaving. I think all these things will improve if a 2-month course is given.
[i] So, if you live in a society, you have to know the language of the society.
[r] Yes, a lot.
[i] And how much do you know about the language of the society? How much do you know about the French language?
[r] I know a little about the French language. I am also 100% in the French language. I have prepared myself so that I can go to any place alone. I have a little confidence in this language. Because I used to live here all the time. After I came back home, my friends were very happy. They told me to listen to news, to listen to songs, all the false songs, false news. I used to listen to the words. I used to go to the metro by bus. So I could talk to them. I used to listen to the words like crazy, what kind of language they use, which word they use more. So, when I came back home, I tried to google the language. This language has been used a lot. So this is how my life has been. The more I have been able to move forward, the more I am satisfied with my life.
[i] So after coming to France, did you go to Bangladesh?
[r] Yes, after coming to France, I went to England once. In 2016.
[i] When did you come to Bangladesh for the first time? When did you come to England?
[r] In 2009. I came to Bangladesh in 2009. After 7 years, I went to Bangladesh. Then I came again. Now I don’t know when I will go again.
[i] What impression did you get after going to Bangladesh?
[r] The only thing I can say about Bangladesh is that I have changed. I have made a lot of mistakes. I don’t want to go back to my country. I don’t want to go back to my country with my friends. Normally, when I meet my friends, we say hello to them. But in my country, when I meet my friends, we don’t shake hands. I think this is the difference. I think our nationality is very backward. I can say this after coming to this country. For example, after going to my country, I went to a shop in an office. There was a very old man. There were two other men behind me. What did they do? When the old man was about to pass the gate, the two men pushed him inside. I was worried about that. But no. It was possible to see our country. When I saw all this, there was a priority. For example, when a bus comes on the metro, we normally get up. But when we sit on the bus, we respect it. We don’t take a bag with us. We ask for help. We don’t get that in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, people can move forward. I think this is the difference. I like that I have changed. I have changed a lot.
[i] You have changed a lot.
[r] If three of us go to the same place to eat, we automatically think about what is going on in the minds of two people. I am sitting on one side. I am able to use it. And the way it is going in Bangladesh, everything is in progress, without a break. Even if four or five of us sit here, even if four or five people sit here, even if we sit together as foreigners, we can’t understand what is going on in our minds. There will be a smile on everyone’s face. There will be a conversation. No matter how many enemies you have, or how many fights you have had, if you sit in one place, everyone forgets. Everyone will be present. You won’t feel that you had a fight with someone. But if you sit in a country, if three or five people sit together, you will see four different kinds of people. You can automatically think that I have changed. I have become who I am because of these people. I have become who I am because of these people. I think these are the differences.
[i] What do you like the most about Bangladesh after coming to France?
[r] The things that I miss in Bangladesh. First of all, I miss my mother a lot. Because she gave birth to me. I have been living with her for so many years. Plus, there are not many people like her. The professors in our college loved us a lot. The headmasters of our high school, the teachers of our primary school, and the elders in our area. There is not much in these seven years. I miss that a lot. A lot of people have died. This is what I realized that there is a lot of gap in my country. I should have come earlier. But the rules and regulations of this country have made me not to go back a lot.
[i] Do you regret that you could not go to Bangladesh more?
[r] I was a little sad before, but now I am used to staying here. I don’t feel sad. I am always busy. I don’t have time to do anything. I don’t have time to sit here. That’s why I don’t feel sad. Last year, when I went to Bangladesh in 2016, I saw that the culture of this country is still the same. The country is different, but the mentality is the same. That’s why I don’t feel sad. I don’t feel sad. I just do what my parents want. I don’t feel sad for my friends. I used to feel sad before going to Bangladesh. I used to go out with my friends. But everyone’s mind has changed. Our mind is set up like this. If someone kills us, we will go and come back. But this does not happen in the country. They are always worried about me. Friends are coming from abroad. I have to feed them. I have to teach them the language of our country. We are coming to this country after so many years. We have to do what we want. I can say it from my heart. We have to do what we want. I don’t like these things. We can’t enjoy ourselves with our friends. We can’t enjoy ourselves with our friends. What will we enjoy? I don’t like it. It all depends on the friends we have. I don’t like it.
[i] Do you feel that the situation in France is not good?
[r] Yes, the situation in France is not good, but there are risks in the future. Like in this country, in Arab and African countries, in 1993, there were a lot of problemsat night. Especially the Asians who work, they return home late at night. They stay alone in the bus, alone in the tram, in the metro. So there are some Arabs, then there are Africans, who take them away, mobile, two-wheel, everything. All these things have to be done carefully before leaving. All this is fine.
[i] So, is there any other fear in France?
[r] No, I don’t think there is any fear. I think nothing happened. It is a little difficult to travel alone at night, in a place like Paris at the moment.
[i] Do you have any hopes for the future from the French government? Or do you have any plans for the future in France?
[r] There are a lot of hopes, but there is no end to the hopes. We humans are born with hopes. For example, my first hope is that I have a house. I need a house. I have a house of my own. Then, as I said before, if the government of this country provides a little help for the foreigners, I mean, if they do something for the foreigners, a little less than these rules and tools, then I think it will be a great thing, a good thing. So my hope is that for as long as I have been in this country, I respect the laws of this country. I respect everything. I respect the culture of this country. I just need a house. A house of my own. I will have an address in my name. That is my hope.
[i] And what do you want to do in the future?
[r] In the future, let’s say, I will change my profession. I have been working in the kitchen for so many years. Now, after changing the kitchen, maybe I will go to the hotel. Otherwise, I am applying for the airport. It would be better at the airport. Otherwise, I will go to a hotel in a baggage post. I am thinking about this. I am also driving around. Let’s see what can be done. I don’t think about it. Because there is a lot of competition. The young generation is 8-10 years old in this country. There is a lot going on. There is a lot of competition. There is a lot of competition. I can’t explain it in words. So as soon as possible, the target I have set will be better. And there will be more competition in the future. I don’t want to stop.
[i] And do you want to stay in France for the rest of your life? Or do you want to go to Bangladesh for a while?
[r] I don’t want to stay in France. Because the rules are changing day by day. This is a place like France. I think in 5-10 years, many rules will change in France. These will be deprived of facilities. So I am thinking of going to England or Canada or Australia. I have three countries on my list. If I get any facilities, I will go.
[i] And where will you gather your family? In which country?
[r] France is on my list. If I get married, my family will come first. If I want to move to another country, I will need my family. So I need time. Then I will think about it. If I do something before that, it’s over.
[i] Do you want to get married in Bangladesh?
[r] Yes, I want to get married in Bangladesh.
[i] Do you have anyone?
[r] No, I don’t have anyone. I have my family. They can choose. I accept. I don’t want to get married at my age. I don’t want to get married at my age.
[i] But there is a tradition in Bangladesh, where people marry their family. This is not the case in France but there was a time. What do you think about this?
[r] Is this a cultural difference? I want to keep this culture alive. Because our parents, grandparents, whoever was there, they all came from this culture. So I also want to keep this culture alive. I want to say that the culture of my country and the culture of Paris is totally different. I want to keep our country’s culture alive and the culture of Paris as well. Because our culture is based on our parents, family and everything related to marriage. I want to do this because our ancestors came to Bangladesh and they are still living in a very good condition. I want to do this. I want to do this. I will do this. I want to keep this in mind because my married family will come and I will be able to learn about the culture of this country, the way of speaking, the respect, and everything else. I will try to teach these two things to my family.
[i] Thank you very much for the interview. What would you like to say yourself?
[r] I would like to thank you for watching my videos. If I have made any mistakes, please forgive me. I am talking about changing things. If possible, please don’t worry. Thank you very much.
